In the emerging circular economy of the future, nothing is treated as waste. What is left over from
one process becomes input to another, so keeping it circulating. REFIBRA™ technology gives a second life to pre- and post-consumer sources – which would otherwise be sent to landfills or incinerated – by upcycling it into brand new cellulosic fiber materials for clothing and home products.

Based on the same award-winning efficient closed loop production process as standard TENCEL™ Lyocell fiber, REFIBRA™ technology is Lenzing’s first step to contribute to the circular economy in the textile industry.

TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers with REFIBRA™ technology are made from a substantial proportion – up to one third – of pulp from cotton scraps that would otherwise have gone to waste combined with wood pulp. It’s a new basis of making textiles that has a better impact
on the environment.

UPCYCLING
Unlike mechanically recycled cotton, there is no loss
of quality or performance with TENCEL™ fibers with REFIBRA™ technology. They retain the round cross- section, smooth fiber surface, and high tensile and tear strength of regular TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers.

NATURALLY WHITE
Producing white fibers from recycled material often represents a challenge. Slightly grey or green shades are common unwanted outcomes on the market. TENCEL™ fibers with REFIBRA™ technology are high-quality fibers and as white as the winter snow in Austria, where they are produced.
