Rethink Your Style: Turning Ocean Waste into Interior Design Products
Introduction
At Stellini, we believe that fabrics can do much more than simply enhance spaces; they can actively contribute to a more sustainable future. This vision came to life through our participation in Rethink Your Style, a collaborative project that redefines interior design in the contract hospitality market by combining creativity, innovation, and environmental responsibility.
About the project
Led by Epson Ibérica in partnership with the Ibis hotel brands of the Accor group, Rethink Your Style was presented at the C!Print Madrid fair as an initiative aimed at transforming the interior design industry. The project brings together brands, technology providers, textile manufacturers, and emerging designers to explore new ways of creating spaces through the principles of the circular economy.
Together with SEAQUAL INITIATIVE, the project demonstrates how collaboration across industries can generate real impact—turning marine plastic waste into valuable design resources. Rethink Your Style is part of the broader “BSearcular” initiative, which promotes circular design by transforming ocean waste into interior solutions. It stands as a powerful example of how waste can be reimagined as a resource, contributing to cleaner oceans and more sustainable industries. As this initiative shows, when creativity, technology, and sustainability come together, design can truly make a difference.

A Collaborative Approach to Sustainable Design
As part of this initiative, Stellini Group contributed its expertise in textile manufacturing by producing jacquard fabrics made with SEAQUAL® YARN—an innovative material created from upcycled marine plastic. These fabrics were then used for digitally printed pillow covers and curtains, combining sustainability with high-end aesthetics.
Alongside other leading textile partners such as FIDIVI Tessitura Vergnano, Valdese Weavers, and Georg+Otto Friedrich GmbH, we helped bring recycled materials into real-world interior applications, proving that sustainability and design excellence can go hand in hand. The printing was managed by Carton Lab and GRAPHIC ARTE Y DISEÑO S.A. DE C.V.
Empowering the Next Generation of Designers
A key element of Rethink Your Style was the involvement of design students from leading institutions in Barcelona, Madrid, and Lisbon: the escuelas de diseño LSD – Lisbon School of Design y LCI Education Barcelona. These emerging talents were challenged to rethink hotel interiors using sustainable materials and innovative printing technologies, redesigning spaces in Ibis Styles hotels across the three cities.
This approach not only fosters creativity but also instils a strong sense of environmental responsibility in the designers of tomorrow—an essential step toward long-term industry transformation.
An Ongoing Commitment
By integrating recycled materials into high-quality textile production, Stellini Textile Group continue to explore new ways to reduce environmental impact while delivering innovative design solutions in the textile industry.
